The personal statement

This is your chance to sell yourself; you want to convince the university admissions officer that you are a student should offer a place of their course to. You need to make sure you stand out from the crowd. A strong personal statement will focus on:

  • Why you want to do the course? Showing your engagement with relevant literature and enthusiasm for your chosen subject is vital
  • Relevance of your present courses
  • Interest in the subject beyond the school curriculum
  • Career goals
